2-5 Data Missing
PROBLEM: After entering data into a file, later when trying to load file, file is not there or data is incomplete or missing.
SOLUTION: There are two possible solutions. Either different installs (two different versions of Mod Calc with different databases are being used) or a different employer in the same Mod Calc program contains lost data.
Different Installs
Load Mod Calc using all available methods (Mod Calc icon(s), click Start button then Programs) even different workstations if on a network) and go to HELP/ABOUT and check the DIRECTORY field at the bottom of the menu for install location. You can also do a search of all local and network hard drives in Windows Explorer for MCWIN.EXE to locate additional Mod Calc installs.
If Versions and DIRECTORY fields are not identical (except for user directory in parentheses), you may be saving files to different versions of Mod Calc and consequently different databases. You should call for technical assistance to correct the problem. If all versions and DIRECTORY fields are identical, then proceed to the next section.
Different Employer
Go to FILE/OPEN which opens the FILE LOAD - EMPLOYERS menu. Double click on each employer (or if your database contains a large number of employers, start with those employers with names are just before and after your employer’s name). This opens the FILE LOAD - FILES MENU that contains a list of data files for the employer. Double click on any suspected data files to load them. When they are loaded and their name appears in the lower left corner of the screen, go to the Payroll or Claims page to search for lost data.
When you find a file containing lost data, click File Open, highlight the incorrect employer and double click. This loads the File - NEW RECORD menu where you can click the “COPY” button at the top of this menu. Click the Employer Field down arrow and select the correct employer name you wish to copy this file into and click “OK”.
Once the file has been copied, and you have gone to the proper employer and verified the data file to be correct, you can go back and delete the file that was improperly saved under the incorrect employer name.
