FAQ
4 - When should I re-install
Mod Calc?
Like most windows based programs, you need
to re-Install Mod Calc after the following hardware upgrades:
· Local
Users:
Whenever
you upgrade, replace a local C: Drive or copy Mod Calc from one PC to
another, you need to reinstall the Mod Calc CD (or Floppy Program Disks)
and the latest Year 2000X Update Disk. This procedure is required as any
new operating system will lack our critical program DLL files that are
copied during the Mod Calc install process into the Windows System folder.
· Networks:
Workstations - Whenever replacing the operating system or
upgrading to a new C:\ Hard Drive on a workstation that had Mod Calc installed,
simply go into Windows Explorer (right click Start button and left click
Explore), find the MCwin folder on the recently upgraded workstation and
find and double click the Netsetup.exe file. Follow
instructions and your workstation should be fully functional upon reboot.
Servers
-Should you replace or upgrade server drive that contained the network
Mod Calc folder, although you can simply backup and restore the contents
of the network MCWIN directory.
· Restore
Data:
Preserving
user data will keep clients happy, as not one likes to lose the data that
took time and effort to create! If you reinstall a clean new version Mod
Calc to a local or new network drive, you will also wish to restore Data
and any network User folders. To do so, simply transfer to your clean
new installation the following folders from your prior Mcwin directory
or backup tapes:
· MCWIN\DATA
folder
· MCWIN\RATES
folder
· For
Networks, any non-local USER folders
(To
re-create user folders, see FAQ 2)
